ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Stephen DeVries — a director, photographer, and founder of Eleven Productions, a full-service production company based in Birmingham, Alabama. I got my start as a photographer, drawn in by the beauty of light and the precision of composition (and a love for old-school film and the amazing cameras of the film photography era). But it was the desire for deeper collaboration — working with a team to build something bigger than myself — that pulled me into directing. I fell in love with the process of telling stories that connect with people on a human level and collaborating with amazing creatives to bring those stories to life.

Over the years, I’ve directed work across a wide range of genres: from national commercial campaigns to short films and docu-style content. No matter the format, I’m drawn to visual storytelling that feels grounded and intentional — cinematic and composed, emotional but always honest. My background in still photography still shapes everything I do behind the camera, and I thrive in the collaborative world of filmmaking. When I’m not on set, you’ll probably find me cycling with my team or spending time outdoors with my wife and two kids.
